The yield in this production season is expected to be 179 thousand 300 tons in olive oil and 442 thousand tons in table olives in Turkiye.
National Olive and Olive Oil Council President Mustafa Tan noted that there are 171 million fruit-bearing olive trees in Turkey and 31 million non-fruiting olive trees.
Last year, we produced 421 thousand tons of olive oil. We produced 735 thousand tons of table olives. Of course, it is in the genetics of the olive tree that there will be a much lower production after such a year. Compared to last year, the yield per tree decreased by 55.7 percent to 7.9 kilograms. There is a decrease of 54.9 percent, or approximately 55 percent, in the total amount of olives compared to last year. 1 million 342 thousand 998 tons of olives were produced in total for oil and table olives. Compared to last year, there was a decrease of approximately 39.8 percent in table olives, falling from 765 thousand tons to 442 thousand tons. There is a further decrease in olive oil this year. Olive oil production, which was 421 thousand tons in 2023, decreased to 179 thousand 300 tons.
We expect the estimated yield in this production season for olive oil to be 179 thousand 300 tons and for table olives to be 442 thousand tons.
Tan stated the following:
"This is a figure that can cover both our exports and our consumption in the domestic market. Last year, our country reached 480 thousand tons of production at the beginning of the period, together with the stock from the previous year. Approximately 300 thousand tons of this was both exported and consumed at record levels in the domestic market. Thus, this period At the beginning, it transferred a stock of around 180 thousand tons. Assuming that it is estimated that there is a product of around 180 thousand tons this year, we have around 360 thousand tons of olive oil. As in the previous year, our exports are at a record level of 150 thousand tons, and our maximum domestic consumption is even 160 thousand tons. "It is possible that we will enter the next year with approximately 50 thousand tons of stock."
